More scary crow than scarecrow

Whether you’ve just got back from your summer hols or they seem a lifetime ago now, one thing’s for sure, you would not want to bump into a flock of birds whilst you were mid-air.

Did you hear about the plane that did an emergency landing on the Hudson (or watch the film Sully)? Well, that all came about because a flock of Canadian Geese flew through the plane’s jet engines. The best way to shoo unwanted birds away from planes? Other birds apparently.

Airports splash the cash on highly trained falconers designed to scare off birds but Robird is a mechanical bird designed to perfectly imitate a bird of prey.

They certainly look convincing and according to their website they’re very effective. But is using a robotic model of a bird of prey rather than a real bird of prey a tech too far? Give it a rating!
