Our Batiste BDA starter kits

We are ready for action! Until our own kits arrive, let's revise how we can introduce Batiste BDA to as many people as possible and feed all opinions back at Holly and her team!

Mines arrived and I am spreading the word on school run today. Have also been sharing on my social media and with a friend over a coffee who commented how fab my hair looked today sssh Have had my first cheeky test and Wow!!!

Used today for the first time, nice smell, feel the bottles a bit boring and plain sadly, to me it don’t stand out next to my other hair products, but.... I defiantly noticed a change in time/pace in drying my hair for the first time...

I got mines today just in time before i jumped in shower. I like the smell of ot and it has left a lovely shine to my hair. Will be speading the word on facebook so others can try it out.

My neighbour was the first person I told as it was left in his chicken coop I weren't impressed with that, I wasn't going in there he had to bring it to me so he saw me open it, I didn't even know I had been accepted until then. I'm well happy and can't wait to try it later!! I told the girls on the school about it they want to try it after I've used it.

Arrived and opened instantly. First impressions not good. I wouldn't pay for it the bottle is 'full sized' yet just over half full and none has spilt out in the box. It's described as gorgeous smelling buy absolutely stinks of a strong hair spray.

Mine arrived yesterday and I tried it last night. It smells nice but I didn't notice any difference in dry time. It also left my hair feeling quite dry and brittle. I will do some timed trials with and without the product but on first impressions I wouldn't recommend it.

Mine kit was waiting for me when I got home from work yesterday. I had no trouble getting out of bed & in the shower this morning as I was so excited to try BatisteBDA. It cut a good 10 minutes off the drying time, smelt amazing & left my hair feeling smooth. My daughter is looking forward to trying it tomorrow morning. I’ve shared pics & thoughts on my social media (instagram leilas_loves twitter MissLeilaMo). Thank you so much for letting me be part of the team 😊

Today I tried the Batiste product for the first time. Absolutely love it!!, put some photos up already and told friends and family about it. Cut down drying my hair from half an hour to 10 minutes!! So impressed! :D

Receieved my parcel yesterday evening! Tried it out for the first time tonight and it smells lovely!!
Posed a pic too!
Cut my drying time down by more than 10 minutes and my daughter who has the same length hair has also tried it shes a big fan!

Really pleased to be a part of this project! My hair is really thick and long so it usually takes forever to dry, I normally give up after a few minutes and let the rest dry naturally. However this results in frizz so I’m always trying out products to tame the frizzy beast! I tried this Batiste Smoothing Blow Dry Accelerator for the first time this morning before work. I normally shower in the evening so that I don’t have to spend ages in the morning drying my hair, however I thought I’d give this a go and I’m really very pleased with the results! It’s not just how it sped up the drying process – which it certainly did – but it’s left my hair feeling smooth and soft which I love. It really is a confidence boost in a bottle!

Used mine for the first time yesterday, I have a few comments and some mixed feelings about the product. It has an extremely high alcohol denat content, which is extremely drying and isn't beneficial to hair; this is an ingredient that is commonly used in products to decrease drying time.

It made my hair feel the worse than its ever felt, extremely brittle and fried when my hairs not that damaged; however, 4/5 hours later it feels very smooth, better than usual with just a blow out. I do feel like it weighs the hair down as I have a lot less volume than usual but I do agree with the smoothing claim (after it initially make your hair feel fried). I worry that with prolonged use it would be damaging to the hair, especially with alcohol denat as the first ingredient.

As for the scent, it honestly smell like straight alcohol when you spritz it (it's very strong and actually unpleasant) but once it dries down it does have a lovely fragrance.

Lets talk more about the ingredients in the order used:

alcohol denat - Drying (can cause hair to become brittle) but is known to speed up drying time

peg 12 dimethicone - This is the ingredient that will give the product it's smoothing claim

Parfum (Fragrance) - This will obviously be what gives the dried down product is nice scent, however; it can be any combination of undisclosed chemicals and should really be avoided unless the scent is from essential oils

adansonia digitata (baobab) oil - Finally, an ingredient with actual long term benefits for the hair. It's honestly great, packed full of vitamins and goodness, its been put in there to further the smoothing claims and probably to combat how drying alcohol denat is

hexyl cinnamal - A natural ingredient but it's pretty much used in cosmetics to mask other scents from chemicals in a product

Linalool - Honestly, not really sure about this one but I do know it can cause skin sensitivity, I think its in there for scent

Geraniol - Another fragrance, derived from Roses

Limonene - Another fragrance, and also known skin irritant

cinnamyl alcohol - Basically used as another fragrance

Hydroxycitronellal - Again, fragrance

benzyl salicylate - I presume this is the ingredient that is supposed to help protect hair from heat damage but is also the lowest concentration in the list

So, to summarise, it's full of alcohol which dries the hair out (which can compromise the health of the hair) and in turn decreases drying time and then it's packed full or other chemicals and some natural derivatives to mask the alcohol scent (which only works once dried down, after the alcohol has already evaporated). There is one ingredient in here that has actual, real long term benefits for the hair and one that just helps to smooth. There is also a ton of ingredients used in here that are know skin irritants and allergens that can cause conditions like dermatitis, eczema etc .

Honestly, without going into too much more detail and it becoming an essay, yeah, this product should technically speed up your drying time and will smooth the hair out temporarily. It is, as previously mentioned, drying, so some people will experience their hair feeling very brittle. It's not the worst but it's not the best and I wouldn't recommend prolonged use.

In response to claims:

Up to 30% reduction in drying time: Technically yes, there are ingredients used that are proven to provide this function, but remember, thats anywhere from 1%-30% reduction.

230 C heat protection: It has benzyl salicylate that provides UV protection but I can't confirm this claim and am unsure how saturated the hair would have to be with this product for it to be effective; but I'm sure, in line with legislation this must be true. (I need to do some research, can't reliably comment off of my own knowledge)

Instant Softness to hair: Not true for me but it's dependent of health and type of hair. My hair did smooth out a few hours later, more so than usual

Adds shine & Detangles: There are ingredients that are proven to back these claims

More Manageable hair: This claims goes hand in hand with the softness, detangling and shine claims

Overall, it technically has all the right ingredients to back the claims and it does delivery to some degree but it is also damaging and I would not recommend using this long term or even regularly. If you have sensitive skin and/or scalp, I would stay away with a lot of the ingredients being known irritants as it should cause further irritation and even exacerbate minor issues.

I would recommend finding a more natural solution to combat drying time. A proven method is using a natural oil thats very fine and has a small molecular structure & size. Using an oil like this will help to nourish from within and actually push the large water molecules out, thus, increasing drying time without the damaging chemical. These benefits can be fortified with essential oils, a favourite is Lavender essential oil a this is known to strengthen and add shine to the hair. I would do your research as different oils work best for different hair type and hair health. A few honourable mentions:

Thick, course, and/or curly hair: Coconut oil will be your saviour
'Normal' hair types: kalahari melon oil

As for my experience, I don't know if it speeds up the drying process particularly but it did help smooth my hair for a better blow-dry. As mentioned, the alcohol content is concerning and the product has little long term benefits. I do recommend implementing an oil with small molecules to provide similar benefits without the damage.

*Sorry this was so long but I have a lot of expertise in this area and felt it was important that people know what is in their products (vaguely as its based on my general knowledge and I encourage you to do your own research)
