What matters to you?

It’s World Design Day and innovators and trend setters across the globe are celebrating the design revolutions that have shaped our society.

Here at trnd, we care about good design (it’s one of the reasons we’re partnering with Braun to help them celebrate their 100th birthday) and we truly believe that design has the potential to change the world as we know it – imagine life without the telephone or the car or the internet…

But, in 2021, our priorities for what makes for design great have changed. Yes, we want functionality and ease of use, and we want products that will make our everyday easier or more enjoyable. But that’s not all. Now, we want products that do good and stand the test of time too. And we don’t think that’s too much to ask.

I dont really think many things are made to last anymore. I believe that some products have a failure point built into the design. not good for companies to sell you something you will never need to replace. I cant remember the last electrical item I bought that was user serviceable? Just my thoughts though

I agree with the person previously who said that products just aren't made to last these days. I have a ladyshave that I was given almost 30 years and it's still going strong, the only thing wrong with it is that the catch on the box lid has broken, the shaver itself is perfect. You wouldn't get that kind of quality these days with anything from hairdryers to cars.

I do love a product to look sleek and stylish and to be easy to use but above all I want sustainability. A product you are going to invest in must be built to last.

I am sure you must be able to have sustainable products with good design help make people s life easier and be more compact as well as making them last longer . Hopefully

People with disabilities need products that are easy to hold and use. I have arthritis in my hands and as a retired hairdresser I still cut my families hair but find that clippers hairdryers etc are very hard to handle, and bulky. Products like these that are slimline or made to fit in the hand would be a great help.

Not many products now are build to last unfortunately. But good design is very important because if it’s eye-catching it’s better chance that I will buy it.

I love the smart and very good design, but also need to be sustainability and to last if it's only good design and last for a couple of months? Then No.

Stylish and built to last, i hate products that are part of our 'throw away culture'.
Who wants products that don't last and need replacing? Glad to say Braun have great products that are innovative and well made.

For me quality. Now we live in a electric world what come from cheap materials and use for 6month to a year and broke or already a better version of is out. Didn't build to last.

I think a product should look esthetical, should be functional and long-lasting. These attributes altogether make a product sustainable.
Sustainability is also consumer behaviour when you only buy things that you actually need and you are going to use them frequently. It also includes things like buying long-lasting items and only replace them when it isn't operating/functioning anymore. Overshopping is when you buy items because of their design, or because they are new in the market or is has some funny, unusual function (gadgets).

In my opinion, a long-lasting, practical product with a sophisticated look promotes these values.

I believe the most important thing is to treat all people the same.

Write an idiots guide Yes she did say that.

So many times people get so so stuck on the instructions of products. Then they feel it doesn't work well or gives them the best experience in turn your never truely going to know the overall success of the product.

A step by step guide easy to follow.

The next is the design to be usable for everyday and everyone to consider features for grip, angles for all ages to be able to use.

Low electric low to run.

Sustainable, recyleable or even a scrapage scheme would be a great consideration don't you think a little incentive. Not a lot of companies do this.

I could keep going but I have made a few points that I feel are important.
