The importance of family

Family and friends are so important to us and never is this more true than when we have a little one.

It could be babysitting when you have a night out, helping out when you’re not feeling well or just popping round for a cuppa at the weekend, they’re always there when we need them. However, as they don’t have little ones around all the time, it is likely that they’re less aware of potential child safety hazards.

This weekend, pay a visit to the family members who look after your little one the most and explain the importance of child safety around the home. Let them know about the tips we’ve shared so far and help them to fully child proof their home. This will give you both peace of mind that their home is totally child friendly for next time your little one goes around to play.

Your task: Share and take a pic:

While you’re there, take a pic or two of your family along with your little one and share to social media explaining to your followers and fellow parents the importance of sharing safety knowledge with your relatives.

As a thank you for going through the checklists with you, share out a sample of Fairy Non Bio and remind them to use the product immediately after opening, and keep them out of reach of children.

hi. nanab here, have had great feedback from families of little ones, children are very attracted to the colours on the washing tablets, a lot of them do look like sweets. why ? I really don't know. even the colours are attractive. parents and grannies have all commented on this.
im afraid I don't do blogs , gone beyond that stage. but I hope sending these messages will still point out to be very viligant around not just very small but all children.

I don't have family near me who look after my children! But my family are aware of the hazards in there homes

I agree completely about the colours on the packaging. Lots of mams and dads have said the same to me. I brought lots of samples to play group and although all parents are aware that product can b dangerous some are very flippant in relation to storage. However I feel they will review this now

Hi,my mom and my husbands parents are getting on in years and have their own rountines,detergents left down low for easy access,medicines on tables for convince etc so even though they have my children over to vist every weekend they weren’t really aware of the dangers,giving them the samples(photos to follow) and having a chat about the potential danger of children putting things in their mouths has made them think now just to put safety measures into practice

I took the tablets to work today to share information with parents when collecting the children a massive number of the group of 34 parents commented on the attractive colourful and sweet like look of the tablets. They were very grateful for the sample and a huge number said they needed to make safety changes in the home.

Had a chat about this at parent group this week, and family members looking after our little ones. Most grandparents had the same spot for washing products for many many years, and as this changed from powder to pods, they didn’t think to consider the dangers of the attractive packaging of the pods. Everyone agreed to go and chat to their parents about this issue and move them to protect from little kids getting to them.

My family doesn't live around, but my husbands parents look after kids rearly but do sometimes. And they know that safety is first with small kids, because our kids aren't first grand kids they have. Granny always have doors closed to bathroom or laundry room. Radiators covered, cooker-range and fireplace guarded. She is aware that safety is first and she watches them like a hawk. But She was delighted for laundry samples. Thanks

My family does not live near me but definitely they are aware of all the hazards at home and the safety measures that has to be done for they have children too. Most of the time we share opinions, ideas, experiences about safety of the kids. 😊

I was out home last weekend and my sister, mum and I had a big discussion on child safety around the house. My sister has a 7 yr old with mild autism. He is a super little man but has to be reminded of the various dangers about the house. My sister and mum were delighted with their samples and notebooks. #ChildSafetyAtHome. #FairyNonBio

Hi all! So im joining a parent and toddler group,its taken me a while to get the courage! Cant wait to meet more mums and see how they tackle safety in their homes,also hoping to give a few samples if thats ok with the group leader!

As pods are a relatively new phenomenon many of my older relatives had never saw them before, however, now they see how attractive and similar looking to sweets that they are.

Agree that pods are new to some of the family - as for the colours totally attractive to the little one. Encouraging everyone to put them up high # ChildSafetyAtHome or at Grans house ☺

Like other comments, the colour has been commented on but also the feel of them, even as an adult you could play with them like a squidgy ball so it so important to out them out of little ones reach, just like I have discussed with my family and the parents of the children I mind.

It is so true regarding family members houses, take my parents house, it is not childproof as there are no children living there yet there are young grandchildren there all the time. To highlight this I spoke about the project when visiting so subliminally my parents would be aware of safety for when the grandkids are visiting.

I signed up to take part in this project because as a household that doesn't have young children, you can get very complacent. We thought we were doing ok by keeping the door to the pantry, where we store all our laundry products, closed whenever there were children over in the house. But to ensure everyone's safety all it required of us was to move the products a couple shelves up. It's a win:win; we're not bending down any more and younger hands can't reach even if they do open the panty door #ChildSafetyAtHome or #ChildSafetyInEveryone'sHome.

I also took the opportunity to let my work colleagues know especially those like myself that were living in homes where children visited as opposed to lived. I left a pad on my colleagues desk as a reminder.
