Meet the Toniebox

You might not be too familiar with the name tonies® yet but that’s all about to change. These amazing audio systems made a huge splash in Europe last year and are now set to do the same over here.

By taking part in this project, you get to be amongst an exclusive group of trdnsters that learn all about this unique, interactive listening system.

The What

Tonieboxes are colourful audio systems that offer hours of creativity and fun. They’re soft, robust and ever so simple to use. Choose a Tonie (a hand-painted figure) pop it on top of the Toniebox and wait for the story to play. It’s that simple.

The Why

The Toniebox inventors Patric Faßbender and Marcus Stahl, both dads themselves, realised that while grownups had phones and MP3 players to listen to audio content, there wasn’t anything suitable for children that didn’t involve lots of screen time. They sought to change that and the Toniebox is the result of their hard work.

The How

The Toniebox is super simple to use, in fact, you could say it’s child’s play. When you first set up your Toniebox, a set of friendly voice instructions will be on hand to help you connect to your Wifi. Then, all you need to do is pop your first Tonie on top. The information in the chip in the Tonie will automatically download onto the Toniebox (which has room for 500 stories) and from then on your kiddo simply has to switch it on (using the cute ears which also adjusts the volume) and pop their Tonie on top to listen.

The when and the where

Children can listen to and play with their Toniebox anytime. After the initial download (which uses Wifi), the stories are available to listen to anytime and anyplace, making long journeys a breeze.

Wow sounds amazing!! All the colours. Amazing that simply all youve to do is pop in a Tonie, so simple. I guarantee my 1 year old could do this. So excited to see them!

Because the design is raw yet modern... I always wish such products for my kids...as kids now a days are getting too much attracted towards mobile and tablets.. I don't wish them to face screen at all...

This would be a godsend to us we travel to visit family quite alot so it would be handy for my little boy to have his own entertainment he can control, rather than having to Give him an ipad

I seriously doubt that there is a child who wouldn’t relish a Tonie ox!
The box appears to be beautifully made and thoughtfully designed with children’s pleasure and ease of use being paramount.
I am intrigued to learn that the box is soft and also that once the initial download is complete, with the help of WIFI, then they can go anywhere! As a child I loved listening to audio tapes in the car and these are even better as they allow the child to control it. We all know that children love to be independent when exploring and to have the freedom to be in control.
There is something really pleasing about the choice of vibrant colours and combined with the little figures, there is limitless play capacity.
I personally allow very little screen time in my house as I feel young children do not benefit from it plus it requires supervision and I worry it can dampen creativity.
For me, the Toniebox has come to the market at the right time and is something I feel parents and their children will absolutely embrace.

All 3 of my boys would love this! My older 2 really enjoy listening to music whereas my youngest really loves books. This would be fab for them.

I thinky both girls would love it. Something new, something great to explore and learn about and then most important it tells great stories they can listen and choose which one they want.

My 3 yr old loves books and singing but just lately has started to ask more tv and watching something. This would be a great alternative for her to engage with stories and music in a modern way. And the changeable characters keeps it varied.

Oops, I tried to add more to the knowledge page but it submitted before I was ready anyway what I wanted to say was I think this is such a brilliant and innovative idea. My eldest son (4) has too much screen time and while we've limited it he feels he is missing out. I think this is perfect. I've told a few people about it and the opportunity to try one would be fantastic. I think my boys would really get some benefit from a product like this. Fingers crossed you give us the chance to review it for you

These sound so innovative and amazing! I love how user friendly and intuitive to use they are, meaning my children would be able to use it with ease and without the need for parental assistance.

I've just completed my knowledge test so fingers crossed! 🤞 This is such an exciting project, we would be over the moon if we had the chance to take part! The product looks fantastic.

My kids would love a tonie box, just looking at them my little girl is already telling my "WOW". My 2 little brothers would love to come over aswel and have a go. Theyd love to create there own stories and be told them back to them. Story telling is a daily thing in our house and the kids love it. This tonie box is the next step up. Its perfect. I have already told so many about this and they think its great they cant wait to see if i get chosen for one for my family so they can come around and see for themselves. It has been a well talked about topic. I love the idea it takes kids away from screen time and its more interactive and creative. My kids would love this simply because everything they can do on it. Again it is perfect. Very good job on making this one x0x0

Love how there are lots of colours to choose from. Fantastic how they are so mobile friendly to travel with on long journeys. This would be great for my daughter during our 24hour ferry journey to Spain. Her older brothers would love it too and ME

My 3 year old would love his - he’d love the child- like ease and appeal of it but we are also travelling later in the year so it would be brilliant to take it with us.

My kids don’t get screen time. They prefer reading or listening to music, etc. This would be perfect for them, especially my youngest. She’s still young, so this would provide her with years of fun.

I think my 4 children would love the toniebox all for different reasons, my 6 year old I'm particularly intrested in seeing how he would engage, he has asd traits currently under cahms for assessment. I'm always anxious about his reading, we struggle to engage with his reading.

I think my son would find the toniebox magical. It has such great features, the characters that are hand painted, he would love, he has such a creative imagination, just we struggle to bring it out in the best ways. Through audio & visual characters I think this idea could be really beneficial.

The ears as volume changer is such a great idea.

This sounds simple and easy to use for little ones - my daughter would love this and we are always looking to reduce the amount of screen time - perfect combination x

I think she'd love having this as it's something she can control independently and not have to ask the adults for help.

I love the colour variety here. Both my daughters' favourite colour is yellow (although I'm not sure how much my younger one made an independent decision on that!) so I hope you bring out a yellow one in the future!

Loving the idea of these. I need to decrease my 3 year olds screen time but it’s hard to find something that will hold his attention long enough-that won’t involve a massive clean up for me afterwards!! It’s great that they are soft also-means that hopefully they’ll withstand the strength and fury of a toddler!! Would love to fully road test one of these Tonie boxes!

This is a great idea. It gets children learning, away from the computer screen and games and gets everyone involved. Love the design!

The more I hear about these there more I am impressed. My son loves stories and this is a great way for him to listen some, without sitting behind a screen. The design looks simple but the effect is much bigger

I'm happy for the little miss to watch TV and use the tablet but I try to make them the last option! A Toniebox could be an extra step to keep her entertained if I can't (and it's not easy).

Really sounds like a great product. Be great to have something that can entertain kids and not have to use a screen to do it. Another tool in the parent tool kit!

My 5 and even 7 year old would love this product! They really enjoy their bedtime stories and this is a great way to listen to them!

My son would love both the technology and the play in the Toniebox. He spends lots of time in his older sisters room listening to music as he has nothing that he can listen to his own music on and he'll love that he won't be getting told all the time to be careful with the Toniebox as it sounds like its robust enough to handle normal child use, unlike tablets etc

I think this would make an extra special present for a child! A grandparent could record some special stories and make it unique and personalised!
I also think it would be lovely tool to help children settle so that they are ready to go to sleep. It could be a part of a bedtime routine that helps a child to settle.

Sounds amazing and so easy to use! My little one is super musical and loves hearing stories! I love the fact that there is no screen and the child can easily choose their favorite story! The fact that you can record your own things it makes it even more interesting for me! We could record in Spanish and English making even more fun our bilingual journey!

My girls would absolutely love one of these. Stories are so important and they are always asking for me to read to them and I try, it’s just not always possible when I am showering/making dinner/changing a nappy!!

I’m pretty sure I’ve already commented on this post but I wasn’t 100% so thought I’d just pop on and answer again 🙈 My daughter would love this so much. She absolutely loves reading, it’s something I’m incredibly proud of because I loved reading as a child too. She has such a strong sense of imagination and loves to play, and write stories. She’s only 6 but we’ll take her up to bed, read a story and she’ll come done about half an later because she’s found some paper in her room and wrote herself a little story. Or she’s read a book to her teddies. I think it’s really important to keep children’s imagination alive and this is a perfect mix of that either technology.

My son would love a Toniebox as he has just started to learn to read at but sometimes gets frustrated. The Toniebox would allow him to read along with a story which would in turn boost his confidence and word recognition. I think he would find it hard to choose his favourite coloured one though!
